Provo Farmer's Market

Bryan and me in front of our booth. Notice all that yummy granola next to us!

Here's a picture of our booth from a couple of weeks ago. From left to right you can see: my sister Kendra standing in front of her handmade books, my friend Jenny's great baby things, and some misc. things I made (as well as a few things my friends Todd and Rachel made, but they're done with farmer's market now). And of course all of my great Sammy Jaybird onesies across the front. Yay!

Well, I'm making this post late Friday night instead of early Saturday morning like I usually do because farmer's market starts earlier now that it's main season and it takes a while to get going in the mornings when I spend time making posts and things. Anyway, hooray for farmer's market this week!

Here's some brief info:

Provo Farmer's Market

Where: 500 West 100 South Provo UT 84601 (That's Pioneer Park, for those of you who know where that is)

When: Saturdays 9:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. (June- October)

What: Produce, arts & crafts, live music, food and special events.

I'll be there selling Great Granola! in our three delicious flavors- raisin, cranberry, and blueberry- as well as great Sammy Jaybird onesies and hairclips! I've got some fun new designs you're going to love!

Happy 1st Birthday!

I have an adorable niece whose first birthday is coming up in July. Another sister was going to visit this cutie last month, so I made her birthday present early and sent it along with her auntie. I'm very pleased with the way this onesie turned out. It's perfect for a first birthday party! I'm so pleased, in fact, that I made another one in more boyish colors to sell, but I sold that one to a friend last night and forgot to take a picture of it. Oh well. If you'd like a first birthday onesie for your little one (or for a little one you know) just shoot me an e-mail at sammyjaybird@gmail.com and we'll make it happen. Have a great day!

Provo Farmer's Market- this Saturday!

Well, it's that time of year again! Starting this Saturday (eek!) I will be selling more great things at the Provo Farmer's Market. So far the plan is to sell Sammy Jaybird products (I really need to get working on that) and more Great Granola! (hopefully). Also, my sister Kendra is going to be selling some awesome handmade books (very high quality and always original) and a couple of other girls in my ward are going to be selling some baby/ kid stuff too. If any of you would like to stop by and enjoy this lovely experience, here's the info:

Provo Farmer's Market

Where: 500 West 100 South Provo UT 84601 (That's Pioneer Park, for those of you who know where that is)

When: Saturdays 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (May only)

9:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. (June- October)

What: Produce, arts & crafts, live music, food and special events.

And now a few tips from someone (me) who has a bit of experience with Provo Farmer's Market:

1. Bring more cash. And while we're on the subject, carry smaller bills with you. Vendors run out of change faster than you think and you're likely to get much faster service if you carry around a big stack of $1.00 bills (or at least $5.00 bills) instead of a $20.00.

2. If you want to actually buy fresh produce, arrive at or before starting time. Actually, you can get quite a bit of stuff by showing up before it starts since vendors are there early to set up and are just as happy to start making money sooner. I say show up early or on time if you actually want to buy fresh produce because most of the actual farmers sell out of their produce really fast. One time last summer we were stationed across from a nice couple who were selling fresh peaches. They sold out by about 10:00am and then just packed up and left. This is totally typical of produce sellers. Lucky them.

3. Eat lunch there. The vendors who sell food there (as in food that they make, not just fresh produce) make such yummy, yummy things. My mouth is already watering for more jalapeno bread and that amazing stir fry. Mmm...

4. (Not meant to be a contradiction to #2) Show up toward the end. Often times you can get some great deals by showing up at the end of the day when vendors are just trying to get rid of things. Let's face it- we vendors get hot and sticky and worn out sitting out there all day and sometimes it's worth it to sell something for a little less just to be done and go inside where it's nice and cool. Lucky you... if you're lucky.

5. Bring your swimsuit/ clothes you can get wet in. Starting in June (I think) Pioneer Park will have a new water feature like the one at Gateway Mall. (I'm pretty sure it'll be a big fountain on ground level that you can walk through and play in. Super cool.)

Okay, well, that's pretty much all I have to say about Farmer's Market for now. I'm super excited for another great season of selling! Provo Farmer's Market is always so much fun for everybody- sellers and buyers included.

Where to Buy Sammy Jaybird

Kid-to-Kid (Lindon, Utah)

Hooray! We've experienced our first large order of onesies and hair clips at Kid-to-Kid in Lindon, Utah. They buy and sell new and used baby and kids clothes and accessories at really reasonable prices. I am already becoming addicted and have to be careful how much time I spend in there. I'm still finishing up the order (it has basically taken over my life, but in an exciting way) and within a week all Sammy Jaybird lovers in the Utah County area will be able to go there to purchase these fine goods.

Etsy (online)

Well folks, after a lot of looking into things I've finally decided to open an Etsy account so that you can all purchase Sammy Jaybird products online. Etsy is a great place to buy all sorts of handmade products online. Every time I get on I end up spending more time than I planned looking at all the cool things other people make. I haven't posted anything there yet since this order for Kid-to-Kid has been all-consuming, but as soon as I have a spare moment to snap some good pictures you will all be able to purchase Sammy Jaybird there to your heart's content.

I will be sure to post updates on here when the products are actually available at Kid-to-Kid and on Etsy, but if you'd like to see for yourself and dream about the day when these purchasing methods will be available to you, you can go to http://www.sammyjaybird.etsy.com or you can visit Kid-to-Kid at 135 S State St., Lindon, UT 84042.

Well, that's all for now! Look forward for real updates soon!

She is fantastic. I could not rave about her enough.)

Here are a few pictures of just a couple of the Sammy Jaybird designs. (Check back again soon for nice pictures of these creations being worn by little ones.)

($8.00 per suit or 3 for $20.00)

Soft felt clips for little girls
